Maintenance Location: Jacksonville DC
Maintenance Start Time: 06:00 AM UTC Oct 23th 2018 (08:00 PM PDT Oct 25th)
Maintenance End Time: 04:00 PM UTC Oct 24th 2018 (06:00 AM PDT Oct 26th)
Maintenance Window Length: 10 hours
Maintenance Severity: Medium
Maintenance Impact: Low impact: increased latency and brief packet loss
The following is a maintenance notice for the GravityServers' Jacksonville data center for the FIX (Federal Internet Exchange) as well as the DC primary routers. The FIX will be upgrading their network fabric which will result in a disruption in connectivity between branches which normally communicate with each other through the FIX.
In order to minimize the impact of this maintenance, FIX network engineers will shift traffic from the FIX to the primary data center transit providers 1 hour prior to the FIX maintenance. During the shifting of the traffic from the FIX to our transit providers, some customers will experience a brief period of connectivity interruptions and increased latency until route reconvergence has completed.
Affected customers are impossible to predict, as route convergence relies heavily on upstream regional routers, but customers should see no more than 2-3 minutes of latency / packet loss / random connection drops during reconvergence for any customer affected.
Once the maintenance is completed, we will restore connectivity to the FIX fabric, which will consist of a brief period of increased latency while route reconvergence completes.
